Marys and Monicas is a dedicated ministry at Mother of God Church, inspired by the powerful examples of faith and perseverance demonstrated by Mary, the Mother of God, and St. Monica, the patron saint of mothers. This program aims to support and empower women in their spiritual journeys while fostering a strong sense of community among participants.
Mission and Purpose
The mission of Marys and Monicas is to:
- Encourage Prayer: Like St. Monica, who fervently prayed for her son’s return to the faith, this ministry emphasizes the importance of prayer in nurturing our families’ spiritual lives. Participants are encouraged to pray for their children and loved ones, seeking God’s guidance and grace in their lives.
- Foster Community: The ministry provides a safe and welcoming environment for women to gather, share their experiences, and support one another in their faith journeys. Through fellowship, participants can build lasting relationships rooted in shared beliefs.
- Grow in Holiness: Members are invited to grow in their faith through various activities, including prayer meetings, retreats, and service projects. These opportunities allow women to deepen their relationship with God and become more active participants in their faith communities.
Activities
Marys and Monicas offers a variety of activities designed to engage members spiritually and socially:
- Prayer Meetings: Regular gatherings focused on prayer, reflection, and sharing personal intentions. These meetings provide a space for women to come together in faith and support one another through prayer.
- Workshops and Retreats: Special events that focus on spiritual growth, personal development, and community service. These workshops may cover topics such as parenting in faith, deepening one’s relationship with God, or exploring the teachings of the Church.
- Service Projects: Opportunities for members to give back to the community through various charitable initiatives. Engaging in service not only helps those in need but also strengthens the bonds among participants.
