Baptism is a sacred sacrament that marks the entry of an individual into the Body of Christ. It is a profound spiritual reality, symbolizing cleansing and the washing away of sin, particularly Original Sin. Through the pouring of water and the accompanying words, the baptized person is reborn as a child of God, becoming a dwelling place for the Holy Spirit.

Baptism Schedule:

  • When: Baptisms are held every Sunday at 1:30pm.
  • Requirements: Please schedule your baptism at least two weeks in advance. Bring a towel and a klela (bow) for the baby.
  • Eligibility: Baptism is essential for salvation, and all Christians are encouraged to baptize their children shortly after birth. This sacrament is also available for adults wishing to enter the Church.

Significance of Baptism:

Holy Baptism serves as the foundation of Christian life, granting access to other sacraments and incorporating individuals into the Church’s mission. As stated, “Baptism is the sacrament of regeneration through water and in the word.” Through this sacrament, we are freed from sin and reborn as sons and daughters of God.

Confirmation

Confirmation is the sacrament through which the Holy Spirit seals the baptized individual with His gifts. This sacrament strengthens faith and increases grace, mirroring the experience of the Apostles at Pentecost.

Confirmation Schedule:

  • When: Confirmations are held every Sunday at 1:30 PM.
  • Requirements: To initiate the confirmation process, please contact the Church Office to fill out a request form. A completed request form and a copy of your child’s original birth certificate must be submitted two weeks prior to the selected date.

Significance of Confirmation:

Baptism, Eucharist, and Confirmation together constitute the “sacraments of Christian initiation,” which must be understood in unity. The sacrament of Confirmation is necessary for completing baptismal grace, binding individuals more closely to the Church and enriching them with a special strength from the Holy Spirit. As confirmed members, individuals are called to be true witnesses of Christ, actively spreading and defending their faith through words and deeds.

In our tradition, Baptism and Confirmation are administered together so that individuals receive both sacraments in one ceremony. The priest who baptizes will also confer Confirmation using Myron consecrated by a bishop.
